Weekend Reflections for 5/8/15
Love One Another
The gospel reading for the 6th Sunday of Easter proclaims God's love for us and our love for others. We know that God created us because he loves each of us. God gives us gifts and talents, everything we have: a body and soul, an intelligent mind, understanding, ability to solve problems, a compassionate heart and much more. Jesus said: "Love one another as I have loved you."
Jesus wants us to share our gifts with others: friends, neighbors, even enemies. Our prayers, our support and our forgiveness of others reflect our love for others. Jesus showed us his love by offering his life for us on the cross to save each of us.
Growing spiritually is a life-long journey that never ends until we enter heaven. Each day of our life we want to ask ourselves: "How can I love my neighbor today?"
