St. Michael's Retreat

"Strength, Hope and Healing for First Responders"

NOVEMBER 1-3 2016

This will be an non-denominational retreat specifically for men and women who work as first responders (Police, Fire, EMS - Current and Retired).

The retreat begins the evening of Tuesday November 1 (5pm-6:30pm check in) and concludes at 12:00 pm on Thursday November 3, 2016.  It will be directed by Fr. Joe Laramie, S.J.

ADDITIONAL INFO:  White House Jesuit Retreat is offering a spiritual retreat for first responders this fall. This retreat is open to men and women who work in the law enforcement, fire and EMS fields. The retreat will begin the evening of Tuesday November 1, 2016 and will conclude the afternoon of Thursday November 3, 2016. Both active and retired first responders are invited to attend this non-denominational retreat.


Fr. Joseph Laramie, S.J. will direct the retreat which has been titled “The St. Michael’s Retreat”. “We’re excited to give back to these men and women who do so much for our communities” said Fr. Laramie. “First responders are under more pressure than ever. The events in Ferguson have placed first responders in the spotlight. This has intensified the anxiety levels of many who work tirelessly to serve the communities they live in. For some, this can lead to depression, family problems, and other inappropriate behaviors. We have developed a retreat to help first responders cultivate personal and spiritual resources to deal with the stress, anger, and sadness that they experience on a daily basis.”


This retreat has been approved by the Missouri Department of Public Safety’s POST Program and will count for 8 “Interpersonal” POST credit hours.


Participants will receive lodging and all meals. The retreat will feature a number of talks by Fr. Laramie followed by group discussion, plenty of silent time for personal reflection and worship services. The venue is White House Jesuit Retreat’s beautiful 80-acre campus in South St. Louis County (7400 Christopher Dr. St. Louis, MO 63129). There is no set fee to attend as White House operates on a free-will offering basis. The only requirement is a $50 deposit to register.
