WHITE HOUSE RETREAT ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
White House Retreat announces the retirement of Bill Schmitt, who served the Jesuit retreat ministry for over 11 years as Executive Director. Under his leadership, retreats were planned and executed with a deep commitment to Ignatian Spirituality, helping thousands of retreatants draw closer to the Lord through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. During his time at White House, Bill and his staff oversaw the development of innovative retreats for Hispanic communities, Young Adults, Military veterans, and Twelve Step participants as well as significant facility renovations to reflect the beauty of God’s creation. We thank Bill for his service.
Fr. Richard Hermes, S.J. will assume the role of Executive Director of White House on September 1. Father Hermes, age 61 and a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, is no stranger to White House, having spent much of the past year as a member of the White House Jesuit Community, where he frequently assisted with retreats. A Jesuit since 1984, Fr. Hermes has a strong commitment to the apostolate of preached retreats.
